Within Technologies developed a chain mail glove concept to illustrate its software's capabilities in generating functional wear. This concept was developed in collaboration with Philip Delamore of the London College of Fashion. The chain mail glove would be manufactured using 3D printing and can be manufactured using various metals and plastics including stainless steel, titanium and nylon. These materials would allow the glove to be used for different functions.

Within Enhance™, Within's flagship software package provides a dynamic skin feature which lets a user replicate and interweave 3D elements on the surface of an object or design space. In this case, a 3D hand scan was used as the design space therefore allowing for a custom chain mail glove to be generated. Other applications of this chain mail concept include custom body armour, unique jewelry designs and functional surface coating.

This concept chain mail glove is featured in the Economist (10th Feb 2011).
